Compliance-Sensitive Purchases

If a Supplier takes exception to the University of California Terms and Conditions, Appendix – Data Security, or Appendix – Business Associate, or if a transaction falls under any of the Compliance-Sensitive categories listed below, Procurement Services likely requires additional information, approvals, supporting documentation, and/or additional lead time to negotiate an agreement with the Supplier.

Intellectual Property

  • All promotional items bearing UC Riverside logos, names, or marks must protect the University’s brand, reputation, and legal interests. Brand protection ensures trademark compliance and consistent use of UCR’s visual identity, supports sustainability and fair labor practices in alignment with the UC Code of Conduct for Licensees (CLC), and advances Small Business First goals and UC procurement standards. Using unapproved designs or suppliers can expose the University to legal, reputational, and compliance risks.

All UCR logos and branded artwork must be approved before ordering. Colleges, schools, and centers should first contact their marketing communication manager. If a unit is not part of a school or college, or if the required logo does not already exist, approval should be obtained from Denise Wolf in University Relations – Brand Identity (denise.wolf@ucr.edu). Artwork approval is required before submitting a requisition or making a purchase.
